Primal Eating and P90X

Day 40 P90X. And like any obsessed focused person, I like to jump on the bandwagon of new nutrition plans that sound interesting to me. I tried being a vegetarian for about two weeks. But I was EXHAUSTED. Not sure why. Too many carbs? I don't know. But when I incorporated meat back into my diet, I just felt BETTER. I just have to put the PETA images OUT of my head.

So when I saw these pictures of Mark Sisson, creator of the Primal Diet, at age 58 Mark at 58 and saw how RIPPED he is, I decided I should give the Primal Diet a try.

The short version and what I gained from reading his website (I now have the book and plan on reading it this week) is you eat meat, veggies, fruit and ALOT of healthy fats and NO grains or legumes. Hmmm. So I downloaded his shopping list and went to work. I also changed my goals on myfitnesspal.com (where I track my food sometimes) to 1700 calories, 25% each carbs and protein and 50% fat. That is certainly a change from my normal 40/40/20.

In the week or so since I started, I feel GOOD. I have energy. I'm killing my workouts. And I've lost 3 pounds and 1/2 inch off my waist. Now, my GOAL is go NOT lose muscle, but to lose that damn impossible to get rid of bit of fat that remains covering my front abs. And I THINK I can see them better. So I'm going to stick to this plan for a while and see where it takes me.
